Sensemaking the user experience?

A confused face in front of a ball of knotted strings and a smiling face in front of a shiny sun.

While working on this website, I came to the point where I needed to answer that question: “What is this site all about?”

User Interface (UI) Design and User Experience (UX) Design is what I have been practitioning for many years. Although, I have been spending the last 2 years focusing more on “Visual Sensemaking” and I wanted to include it in the description of this website. So, I looked up “Sensemaking” and “User Experience” on Wikipedia and here is what I found.

Sensemaking is the process by which people give meaning to experience.

User eXperience (UX) is about how a person feels about using a system.

Eureka! That describes what this site is about:
“Sensemaking the user experience.”
